THE HISTORY OF DENIM
Denim jeansare one of the most iconic and enduring fashion staples of all time. The story begins in the late 19th century, when durable workwear was needed for the miners and cowboys of the American West. Enterprising entrepreneurs like Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis saw an opportunity to create tough, practical pants that could withstand the rigours of the frontier.
The first jeans were made from a sturdy cotton fabric called denim, which was originally dyed with indigo to give it its distinctive blue colour. Over time, jeans became a symbol of the American spirit of independence and resilience. From cowboys and miners to rebels and rock stars, denim jeans have been worn by people from all walks of life.
Today, denim jeans are a ubiquitous fashion item, naturally worn by everyone. In the last few years, as the dress codes have become more casual, you can even see jeans being worn by lawyers or people working in finance, where jeans were frowned upon in the past. Given the regained popularity of jeans, we wanted to put together a fit guide for our assortment of jeans. In this guide, we present our different brands and the models we stock along with the fit and details of each model. Enjoy!
COF STUDIO
COF Studiospecialises in making premium denim products using only the best materials. COF stands for Circle of Friends, which in many ways summarize the brand’s ethics, where they like to see their business as just that, a circle of friends. Starting from the small mills in Japan, where they find their fabrics, through their family-owned Portuguese production, all the way to their retail stores, it’s a business run with quality and friendship in mind.
At Baltzar, we offer two of the brand’s jeans models, theM5and theM7. TheModel M5features a high rise with slight waist suppression and a tilted top block. A straight, roomy leg and somewhat cropped inseam. Finished with five pockets, a button fly and belt loops.The Model M7 is the brand’s tapered-fitted model. The leg has a naturally tapered curve from the thigh all the way down to the hem, without feeling too tight. The model also features a slightly higher waist. Finished with five pockets and a button fly.

CANALI
Canaliis an Italian fashion house, most renowned for their tailoring where they are considered to be one of the finest makers of tailoring in the world. However, in the last few years, the brand also has started making denim, where the focus has been to make a pair of jeans with a contemporary, comfortable fit, which is obtained by making them using a cotton blend with a touch of stretch to add comfort. They are made with a medium rise and tapered fit throughout the leg.

RESOLUTE
Founded in 2010 by Yoshiyuki Hayashi,Resoluteis a brand that embodies over 20 years of diverse experience in the denim industry. With a steadfast commitment to quality and design, the brand’s entire production process – from yarn dying to weaving, sewing, and processing – takes place in Japan. Hayashi’s dedication to crafting the best possible product is reflected in the brand’s limited selection of styles, ensuring that there is a perfect fit for everyone. The brand’s confidence in its product is rooted in the unparalleled technology and quality of Japanese denim production.
At Baltzar, we offer two of the brand’s models, the711and the710. The711 modelis a contemporary fit with a high waist and a straight leg. Made from 14oz unsanforized selvedge denim, which has been washed once to obtain some patina. The710 modelis a slim fit with a high waist and a tapered leg. JEANERICA
Jeanericais a European denim house founded in 2018. The brand makes contemporary premium denim commodities, constructed to last, from sustainable high-quality fabrics and finished using the best techniques available. At Baltzar, we offer two of the brand’s jeans models, theTM005and theSM001.
TheTM005model is a modern take on the classic 5-pocket jeans, featuring a tapered leg and medium rise. TheSM001model is a slim fit with a medium rise and narrow legs. All denim is made using vintage-washed organic denim, combining the robust texture of classic jeans with a hint of stretch. Details include a zip fly and belt loops.

TRAMAROSSA
The founder ofTramarossa, Chamello Urban, started his career in fashion by studying tailoring for many years but it was during it period that he decided he wanted to work with denim, which led to the path of integrating the two worlds of tailoring and denim. The brand Tramarossa was born and they startedto produce sartorial denim in Italy using selvedge-cut fabric. Now, 40 years later they are one of Italy’s leading denim brands. Known for the ‘made in Veneto’ quality, well-tailored touch, soft fabrics and extravagant yet elegant detailing.
At Baltzar, we offer the brand’s modelMichelangelo, which is a slim model with a medium to low rise with a tapered leg. Crafted using a cotton blend, which the brand calls super stretch, which combines the benefits of Japanese selvedge with the modern comfort of stretch.
